Day 7, Kosciuszko Summit Ascent
Mmmooooooooooooooooooo……………
YES!!!!
The roof of Australia - a beautiful view at any time, moreso when you’ve cycled 560kms and cross-country skiied a further 20kms to get there!
After an arduous morning of cycling and cross-country skiing (for the first time for some CowFunders, notably Fi Fi ‘Faceplant’ Collins), the intrepid adventurers finally reached the top of Mt Kosciuszko. The occasion was marked by revelry, including the burning of a ceremonial cow pat which had been collected at Aston Farm, Cobbity, on Day 1 of the journey.
Upon return to Merriment Lodge, Perisher, 10 hours after their early morning departure, the CowFunders celebrated with an informal award ceremony to recognise the following:
Mikey Murray: For delivering warm beds and safe passage, and for getting us to the top on those damn skis.
Danny (The Master) Russell: For covering a greater distance than anyone on a kms per leg basis.
Heidi and her bike, Lucy (the “dynamic duo”): For inspired, unflinching performance - in a timely manner.
Fi Fi Collins: For her Golden Tonsils and Steel Butt.
Steve (Hundred Schmundred) Golding: For having the highest daily average kms ridden.
Big Jase: For getting the job done when it counted and for showing such cycling promise on his Coffs Harbour special.
Theresa Brungs: For epitomizing ‘team’ and for getting to the top, despite one malfunctioning member.
Nathan Fabian: For Friendship, Attitude, Inspiration, & ‘Nice-ness’.
Dallas (aka ‘Porka’, aka ‘Morton’): For being ‘Solid’ and for taking every moment to improve his Tassie Tan.
Kate: For driving the support van (and taking a week’s holiday to do it) and for bringing out Jase’s lighter side.
Fi Abernethy: For shopping, shopping, shopping, driving, driving, driving and giving, giving, giving!
