Day 4, Goulburn - Canberra, NSW (98km)
NOW we've arrived!
The CowFunders were tardy in dragging themselves away from Tarlo, and consequently late for a scheduled meeting with the very gracious and forgiving Mayor of Old Argyle Shire, Cr Paul Stephenson.
The Hume Highway gave way to the Federal, as the team enjoyed the blissful cycling conditions around Lake George. The island contingent of the CowFund Team (Tasmanians Danny Russell and Dallas McCulloch) struggled with the concept of a lake with no water in it, initially thinking it to be the world’s largest paddock.
The team celebrated their arrival at the nation’s capital with a photo shoot at the Big House (Parliament House), before cycling on to Red Hill. There, the night was spent at the home of Sally and Geoffrey White, whose hospitality was greatly appreciated. Dinner was had in the company of a number of other Vincent Fairfax Fellows at a local Turkish restaurant. Special thanks to Katie Firster for organising this enjoyable evening.
