Day 2, Cobbitty - Mittagong, NSW (80km)

Our first Mayoral Reception!
Our first Mayoral Reception!

With great reluctance the CowFunders lowered tender posteriors onto angry saddles and departed the picturesque and tranquil Aston Dairy at Cobbity.

Day 2 riders were supplemented by Jason Breton, heavy with heart after the Roosters failed to achieve in the NRL grand final.

A short and sharp ride into Camden preceded a media commitment, then the intrepid CowFund riders mounted a full scale assault on Razorback Ridge; 800m of geological vanguard for the town of Picton. There, the CowFunders were received by the Mayor (Cr Michael Banasik) and Deputy Mayor (Cr Phillip Costa) of Wollondilly Shire Council and presented with morning tea and a cheque for half a cow.

With Razorback Ridge conquered, riders were looking forward to a relatively flat ride to Mittagong, but discovered that the Hume Highway climbs steadily for at least 15km prior to arrival at that fair town. Once again the exhausted and hungry CowFunders were treated to a regal reception and meal at the home of Leo and Noelene Berkelouw.
